We're recruiting for four Young Adult Service User Consultants

 

Grenfell Health and Wellbeing NHS Service are looking for four Young Adult Service User Consultants to join our team. These roles are open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 21 years old.

We believe that Service User Consultants can provide valuable knowledge and influence the shape of the service that we offer to the community, now and in the future.

The positions require a commitment of a minimum of 2 hours per month on a flexible basis

The role may involve some of the following where Service User Consultants feel comfortable to contribute:

  • Reviewing and providing feedback on policies and documents

Attending Meetings

  • When necessary, attending The Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Team (Whole Service) meetings
  • When necessary, attending meetings with other key organisations in the community such as Youth Action Alliance or Kids on the Green etc.
  • Attending the monthly Service User Involvement Team meetings on the Third or Fourth Thursday of the month from 5pm – 6pm 

Therapy Groups

  • Providing feedback and support in planning of therapy groups or offering training to others
  • Co-facilitating groups as appropriate

Training Events

  • Sharing individual experiences of therapy, of a particular emotional difficulty, or of their journey in NHS or other services

Recruitment

  • Being an interviewer on recruitment panels alongside NHS clinicians

Community Engagement

  • Connecting with local organisations and groups in the community
  • Working jointly with NHS Community Connectors

Anniversary Events

  • Being available on the anniversary of the Grenfell Tragedy to support children of the community by running events such as banner- making or supervising Virtual Reality Sessions

 

What we're looking for:

Experience

  • Personal experience of emotional distress
  • Personal experience of witnessing the Grenfell Tower Tragedy
  • Experience of working with young people (if possible)
  • Experience of working in a team (if possible)

Skills and Attitudes

  • Effective listening skills and an ability to demonstrate a non-judgemental attitude, empathy and compassion
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Good time management skills
  • An enthusiastic attitude and willingness to contribute to any project you’re involved in
  • Good communication skills and the ability to maintain regular phone and email communication with the Service User Involvement Team
  • Ability to share individual experiences of emotional difficulty or of a journey in NHS services
  • Ability to show respect for diverse cultures and individual differences
  • Ability to work flexibly on projects that may involve different tasks and occasionally working in the early evening and on weekends
  • Ability to work with the NHS to improve standards of care for young people in North Kensington
  • Ability to maintain NHS confidentiality

This is a fixed term contract from May 2026 - March 2027

Shortlisting: will take place between 13 April and 17 April
Interviews: Interviews are expected to take place on 29 April between 3pm - 6pm with each interview to last between 25-30 minutes.  If you are shortlisted you will be contacted accordingly.
