The Community Check-in is about creating a ‘holding’ space for community members to come together, check in with themselves and each other, finding support with moving through this particular stage of the post-Grenfell fire journey. Community injury calls for community healing.
As a service, we want to support people with the uncertainty that so many of our Grenfell community are, and have been, living in for so long. We are aware that for some, this prolonged sense of being ‘in limbo’ has had a negative impact on people’s emotional wellbeing, leading to poorer mental health and increased likelihood of burnout.
In the Community Check-ins, you can reflect on how you’re feeling, check in with how your neighbours/community members are doing and share time together. We hope that this will be an evolving series of events for community gathering, sharing and listening. Many sessions will be a combination of talking and of other forms of expression, such as art, music, movement, and play. Each session will be co-crafted with the partnering organisation.
We are open to co-producing these events with any persons/groups in the community.
We ask that any event be open to all community members (although age restrictions may be suitable/necessary).
We’d love to hear from you with any questions and ideas!
