Mindfulness has the power to bring calm to stressful situations, and it doesn’t need to take up extra time.

Badri Bechlem is a CBT and EMDR Therapist at our Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service. In our latest Mindfulness and Me video, he talks about how he benefits from practising mindfulness every day.

“Mindfulness is a very important part of my life to cope with stress, and it’s something I do in sessions sometimes, grounding myself when I hear difficult stories,” he says.

“I use formal practices but I also use a lot of informal practises like walking down the street when I come to work, and very important one for me is taking a mindfulness shower. It’s almost like I’m washing away the day by focusing on the sensation of the shower, the smells and the sounds and just releasing. It’s one that’s the easiest to do because it doesn’t take more time.”

“It really changed my practice as a therapist. I’m a lot less reactive and more connected to people. I’m trying to be more present.”
