We've produced a series of short films highlighting how mindfulness can help us when we’re going through distressing or stressful moments.
Mindfulness is the act of paying attention to the present moment including our own thoughts, feelings and the world around us, without judgement.
In the first short film, Advia, a mental health outreach worker with our Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service shares on how she practises mindfulness everyday.
“I practice mindfulness in three ways. I am Muslim and I pray five times a day, and the actions of praying and the routine of what I do while I pray grounds me.”
“Something I do when I’m really stressed, I draw circles. Lots of and lots of circles, and the feeling I have at the time of doing is, there’s a storm and as I’m doing the circles (I’m doing them extremely fast) and as I become more grounded the circle start to slow down,” says Advia.
You can look at the short film here to hear Advia talk about how practising mindfulness can help.
You can find more information on mindfulness and how to practice it here.
